The lodge is located on the shoreline of Hudson Bay where they experience an exceptional number of clear nights for northern light opportunities.   You can also look forward to the finest food and wine in the Arctic!  Mealtimes will be adjusted or delayed as required to ensure maximum photo opportunities.

DAY 1 – ANTICIPATION BUILDS DURING OUR OVERNIGHT STAY IN WINNIPEG

Arrive in Winnipeg where will enjoy a relaxing stay at a choice hotel – The Grand by Lakeview at the Winnipeg Airport.  At 7pm a dinner will be held at the hotel where we will meet our group and our adventure specialist.  We will need our rest for our early morning departure to Churchill.

DAY 2 – THE ADVENTURE BEGINS!

Arrive in Churchill by air where an expert staff from the lodge will meet us at the airport and provide us with instructions of the morning transfer.  We will also pick up winter gear for those who rented it.

We will then be transferred by fixed wing aircraft to our spectacular Lodge.  This exciting flight takes us out over the historic Churchill River, and then northwest up the rugged Hudson Bay coast to Canada’s most exclusive Polar Bear viewing properties.  We will keep a sharp eye enroute for caribou, seals, wolves and of course the “Great Ice Bears”.

Upon our arrival, our hosts will provide a tour of the Lodge and get you settled into your room.   A thourough orientation on travelling in Polar Bear country will be provided prior to our first outing.  Then it’s time to assemble all those priceless cameras, lenses and tripods and start filling up some gigabytes!

DAY 3 TO 5 – TUNDRA  TREKKING, POLAR BEARS AND MAGNIFICENT PHOTOGRAPHY

The lodge is a wildly rugged and remote location that caters to dedicated photographers willing to spend long hours in the field getting up close and personal with the arctic wildlife.   GROUND LEVEL photo opportunities for arctgic wildlife including polar bears in a prisitne wilderness setting will be our daily activity.  We will be in the HEART OF POLAR BEAR COUNTRY!  Your photos will have stunning backdrops with the sea and or landscapes surrounding the Lodge.  Its shoreline location is ideal for photographing bears on snow and ice.  Furthermore they have an exceptional number of clear nights for northern lights photography.  As previously mentioned the full service meal times will be adjusted to accommodate photo opportunities which are the priority so expect many a meal to be interrupted.  Generally breakfast is served at 8AM, lunches typically held at the Lodge with appetizers at 6:00 followed by a veritable feast for the palate at 7pm. Evenings are spent near the fireplace downloading images and/or Photoshop sessions and image reviews.  Bedtime is at your leisure.  The entire Lodge is patrolled for polar bears all night by one of the night watchmen so be prepared to have your sleep cut short by a nocturnal visit by one of the Great Ice Bears (or by dazzling displays of Northern Lights!).

DAY 6 – LAST MINUTE WILDLIFE VIEWING!

After another hearty breakfast and a chance to take a few more pics, it’s time to pack for the flight back to Churchill where our bags will be stored for us until our flight back to Winnipeg later in the day.  We are then free to explore and wine and dine in this frontier community at our leisure.   Recommended places of interest to visit are Cape Merry, the Port of Churchill, the Eskimo Museum as well as the parks Canada Exhibbit.  Dog sledding and helicopter charters are also an option.  We will be dinning in Churchill, with a provided 30$ voucher.  After an early diner we will meet up with our expeditor and be transferred to the airport in preparation for our flight back to Winnipeg.  We will then collect our gear and spend the night in Winnipeg at The Grand Hotel by the airport.
